About Katy
I am a medical doctor with 10 years experience working within the NHS. I graduated from the Hull York Medical School in 2012. Dr Katharine Rutter MBBS (GMC reg. no. 7290492).
I am no longer practicing clinically choosing instead to focus all my efforts on coaching and helping individual clients with their health and wellbeing, which I am finding really fulfilling.
Most of my previous clinical experience is in Emergency Medicine (A&E) but I have also practiced in the following areas during my 10 years in the NHS:
Intensive Care
Anaesthetics
Cardiology
Acute Medicine
Paediatrics
Obstetrics and Gynaecology
Respiratory Medicine
Gastroenterology
Elderly care
General surgery including Urology
I have always been highly motivated to take time to explain things in a way that is more understandable and clear. I want to use my clinical knowledge to help clients understand their health, conditions, tests and treatments.
My role is not to give specific medical advice but to provide you with the understanding and knowledge that you need to be in charge of your own health.
I have now completed my first training course in health coaching and am really enjoying seeing the difference I can make to the health and wellbeing of my clients using a coaching model.
I feel passionate about embracing the 6 pillars of lifestyle medicine - mental wellbeing, minimising harmful substances, healthy relationships, sleep, health eating and physical activity.
I have experienced the transformative power of coaching first hand and still love working with my coach on a range of topics.
I live in Berkshire with my husband and daughter. I love reading, singing and crafting. I have recently completed my first full distance triathlon and really value exercise in my life. I also love a good trip to a cafe with friends or family - especially if there is cake involved!
